The Irrigation Association has named July Smart Irrigation Month to promote efficient watering practices, technologically advanced irrigation products, and water conservation.
To promote efficient watering practices, consider the following:
- Replacing your outdated controller. The Rain Bird ESP-SMT Smart Control System combines proven ESP technology with weather-based scheduling to save you even more time, money, and water. Factors such as soil type, the slope of your lawn, plant type and sun exposure are utilized to optimize your watering schedule to enhance your landscape while saving water and reducing runoff.
- Updating old sprinkler heads and nozzles with newer advanced ones. Rain Bird 5000 Series rotors/nozzles—The larger water droplets produced by Rain Curtain Technology prevent misting and airborne evaporation so the right amount of water is delivered to the right place, saving you water and money.
- Apply water directly to roots of flower beds using low volume drip irrigation. By delivering water at or near the plants’ root zones, drip irrigation offers targeted watering, that reduces the amount of water waste caused by over spray.
